THE LOTUS WEAVERS FROM INLESEE

Lotus silk - In Myanmar it is considered sacred! It promises health, happiness and prosperity! Business with the most expensive textile in the world has been booming for a few years now!  It is made from the stems of the lotus flower, a type of lily that grows in Inle Lake. The women at Inle Lake weave precious fabric from it in honour of Buddha. July to October is the rainy season in Myanmar, formerly Burma. For the people on the lake, these three months are the most fertile and productive season of the whole year.
