THE KUNG FU NUNS OF NEPAL
Kung fu is actually forbidden for women in Buddhism - but in the Amitabha monastery in Kathmandu, nuns are also allowed to practise martial arts. That was one of the reasons why novice nun Lhadon left her family six years ago to go there. Above the hills of Nepal's capital Kathmandu, 17-year-old Lhadon now fights for gender equality every day along with over 500 other nuns. And she does so with all her strength. The follower of the Drukpa order has now settled in so well that she is slowly being given more responsibility. But the step into the adult world is not so easy for Lhadon.
